Stephen Thompson offers thoughts on when, how and why to reassess one’s tastes in music.
Stephen Thompson answers my question! Honestly, other people don’t give me a hard time about my taste in music. I’m the one judging me. I find it embarrassing how much misogynist hip-hop I have in my iTunes library. Not embarrassing enough to delete it and stop singing along in the car, but embarrassing enough to not want to offer up Grillz as one of my favorite tunes. When I listen to the radio, it’s mostly just the current hits. And there’s only so much Taylor Swift and One Direction I can take.
So yeah, it would be cool to break out of my Top 40 pop rut and be able to introduce myself (and my more musically-inclined friends) to cool new music from time to time. Maybe I need to start paying more attention to All Songs Considered?!?
I volunteered in the Social Media Command Center for the Star-Spangled Sailabration held in Baltimore June 13-19, 2012 to help monitor and respond to visitor queries via Twitter @StarSpangled200 using Sysomos Heartbeat - Social Media Monitoring Dashboard.
Thank you for your amazing work at Sailabration! The event was a huge success and the volunteer efforts were a big part of this. We appreciate your flexibility, great ideas, willingness to lend a hand, and mostly your enthusiasm. We could not have done it without you. We have gotten rave reviews about the volunteers!
My application was accepted. I’m now a member of the Baltimore Buzz Brigade!
