The award is for my work with the League’s Twitter account: @JLBaltimore. The text of my nomination appears below:

Jennifer Yousfi has taken over the JLB Twitter account this year and increased communications and awareness for the League! Because of her upkeep and interactions, the conversations and “tweets” referencing the League has increased exponentially. She has been a wonderful asset in reviving this social media outlet—and without her continued effort, the twitter account would still be floundering.

The UNSUNG HEROES award will be given to those JLB members who have done exceptional jobs in their regular JLB placements.Submissions can come from Board Members and Chairs, and the only rule is this award cannot be given to Chairs, Board Members or whole committees.

"Easy reading is damn hard writing."

“Easy reading is damn hard writing.”

- Nathaniel Hawthorne

"My ideas usually come not at my desk writing but in the midst of living."

“My ideas usually come not at my desk writing but in the midst of living.”

- Anais Nin

January 2012

January 2012

"If the writing is honest it cannot be separated from the man who wrote it."

“If the writing is honest it cannot be separated from the man who wrote it.”

- Tennessee Williams

December 2011

December 2011

"The desire to write grows with writing."

“The desire to write grows with writing.”

- Desiderius Erasmus

"I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it."

“I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it.”

- Garrison Keillor

October 2011

October 2011

A Lot of Hope and a Little Help for Long-Term Job Seekers

A Lot of Hope and a Little Help for Long-Term Job Seekers:
By Guest Blogger Jennifer Yousfi
Business Development Analyst, Sodexo

You don’t have to be a pessimist to think the current US job market is bleak. Over 40% of unemployed workers – 6.0 million Americans – have been out of work for six months or more. Yikes! Even the strongest of optimists have to admit times are hard for job-seekers. But there are still open jobs out there – and recruiters looking to fill those positions!

Post continues here.

Examiner.com Reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2

Examiner.com Reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2:
Zack Kopp, Denver Books Examiner, reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2, which contains my short story No Pleasure Without Pain.

Excerpt:

…I guess I know enough by now to say Tales of Blood and Roses… is a zine to set the brains of horror fans on fire. Issue two is 62 pages packed full with poetry, prose, art, pics and cartoons loosely based around hallmarks of this genre, all delivered with exceptional post-normal bleeding-edge quality…

Bookgasm Reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2

Bookgasm Reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2:
Bookgasm reviews Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2, which includes my short story, No Pleasure Without Pain.

More standouts:

• Jennifer Yousfi’s “No Pleasure Without Pain,” a tale of a woman whose addiction to pain gets out of control, had a twisty story that had me guessing to the end, and a killer last line

Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2 Release Party @ Cyclops!

Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2 Release Party @ Cyclops!:
Time: Monday, September 19 · 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Excerpt:

Tales of Blood and Roses is something of an erotic/horror/goth version of Reader’s Digest. It includes plenty of poems and short stories about encountering ghosts, wolfmen, vampires, and ghouls in the dead of night…

"There are two motives for reading a book: one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast..."

“There are two motives for reading a book: one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast about it.”

- Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)

June 2011

June 2011

"Everything has been figured out, except how to live."

“Everything has been figured out, except how to live.”

- Jean-Paul Sartre (1905 - 1980)

Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2

Tales of Blood and Roses No. 2:
My short story, No Pleasure Without Pain, will appear in the second issue of horror fanzine Tales of Blood and Roses.
